It’s been one rough and tumble swim season thus far. I just finished my
favorite meet of the entire year, and boy, was it awesome! I dropped down to a
2:07.74 in the 200 IM, and 24.20 in the 50 free. I also lowered four seconds on
my 400 IM! It was the first big meet since high school season ended and it was
great to see everyone again. Interestingly I ran into a girl the other day I’ve seen at school–Abby
something. Mom and I met them at the mall and hey are so nice.
Abby has some weird form of autism and is what they now call
"special needs." Long story short, she wants to swim and needs a TEAM
and coach. Maybe even spoiled me, Jenn Smithson, needs to start thinking about
doing something for someone else. I attend church and all that, but do I really
practice this stuff? Abby is church 101, needs help, and maybe the higher
authority has appointed me to help. But I don’t have time because it’s all
about me. Again maybe I need to do something for someone else. If I were in her
position, would I appreciate that? Of course I would! Maybe I can get her onto
Spring River’s team and coach her (in and out of season) when I have the
opportunity. Yes, spoiled me is still on the TEAM! I’ll scout her out in school
tomorrow.
As for school, all is well! I have made so many great new friends this
semester. I am looking forward to (finally) joining choir next semester! I
cannot believe how quickly the first part of the school year has gone. Finals
are already next week! I have not even started studying. Thankfully we have a 3
day weekend to do just that–studying! The best part about next semester is that
I only have ONE gym class that is every other day. This is in lieu of the two
gyms I had this semester which dragged me to the court every day. I am
definitely pleased about that. The good two this next semester are my TWO
musical classes. Orchestra is the very first hour to wake me up, and choir will
be 6th hour (my afternoon coffee ). Enough–bed is awaiting after I read my swim
nutrition blog. I can’t eat any more NUTS! Go Spring River Swimming!
